This may be one of those things only I am interested in, but particularly given the political events of the past week, this YouTube clip features actual news coverage of John Smith's passing, including interviews with most of the main players who feature in The Deal. There's also this clip, to which I had no intelligent reaction (there's a shock) apart from going, "Ohhh, so young 'n presh!" It's perhaps not surprising then that I so totally joined this Facebook group. Much of the credit and/or blame should go to celia for having passed along all three links.

David really impressed me in this film. I haven't seen any Gordon Brown footage so I don't know how close to the mark he is. I'm just judging him by the character on screen. His Gordon Brown is aprickly, complex, intense passionate and honourable. I wonder what the real Gordon Brown thought of his performance. I thought the film was quite sympathetic to him. The first time I saw the Deal, I thought Michael Sheen got the mannerisms and voice, but I didn't get a real sense of the character underneath as I didn't with DM. Now that I've seen The Deal again, I can see more nuances in his performances. A couple of times, his Blair has to look ruthless, but that's the fault of the script. By the way, did anyone else have to stiffle giggles at DM's godawful wig?
