The video is not available anymore! :-( Alas, I will have to leave it to those who actually saw the original video to chase down a still-extant link. In the meantime, however, here's a new Centurion article, and some recently-released photos as well. (I wonder if he bonded with his horse on this project too?) I have to say that seeing that particular handsome face with ouchies on it is not easy for me. (Yes, I know it's not real, but I guess sometimes I'm a little too good at the whole suspension-of-disbelief thing.)

I'm guessing that the previous dysfunctional link might be to this "making-of" featurette, part one of which is here and part two of which can be found here. Even with my compie's failtastic video-non-replaying capabilities, I'd have known that laugh anywhere. *girlish sigh*

New Centurion trailer which is rated R and thus those of you with overly sensitive constitutions--i.e. celia--may wish to give this one a miss.

Site with a few new pictures and production insights which was evidently designed by some gals who seem very sweet (or at least definitely a great deal more heartfelt than your humble admin here) but who evidently design large-print books for a living. Still, though, the quote from Mr. M. about riding--which I haven't done for ages either and would love get to back to--relates to my recent realisation that I can only ever get on the exercise bike at the gym from the left because that's how you get on a horse!

Yet more Centurion clips have been released, and a longer version of one we've previously seen is here, with a great big blood-stained bucketload of them here as well. It was that latter collection of clips that made me think, "Hmmm, maybe I would rather watch this on tv rather than in the theatre" (heads-up to anyone else here in the States--it's presently available On Demand until the theatrical release on 27 August), but then I realised that in order to prove I'm not a big damn wuss, I may be compelled to watch it on the big screen for that very reason. (Yes, I do recognise that anyone who feels it's necessary to assert their non-big-damn-wussdom in such a manner is of course fooling no-one.) I think I may be able to get through all the gory violence--which admittedly is really not my sort of thing--simply by thinking of it being like the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail: "It's just a flesh wound!" Though when it comes to scenes like that spear through the groin--which made me automatically flinch and cross my legs--I may just need to keep Patsy in mind instead: "It's only a model!"

Short audioboo from the Centurion set which I'm partly including just to let any Stateside DMF2'ers know that Netflix lists Centurion as being available on November 2. (I know it's been available on region 2 DVD for months now, but I'm not sure about region 4--either of our Oz contingent wanna weigh in here?) Because I've been catching up on the Underworld movies, which I like mainly for the art direction (along with being impressed with how studly they make Michael Sheen seem--though obviously a great deal of time at the gym was involved as well) and the utter fantabulosity of seeing Bill Nighy play a total badass, I've found I don't really have a problem with the gore and violence therein, so maybe I won't mind it in this film either. *fingers crossed*

(I know it's been available on region 2 DVD for months now, but I'm not sure about region 4--either of our Oz contingent wanna weigh in here?) I only found out last week by accident that Centurion was screened in Oz in July while I was overseas, and I don't think it had that long a run As yet I haven't been able to find a release date for the DVD, though with the usual 5-6 month cinema-to-DVD turnaround I'd pick it to be out at the end of this year or early next year at latest. I love Michael Sheen, but the sex scene in Underworld 3 will always make me laugh--I had to stifle a giggle while watching it at the cinema Meanwhile, I'm waiting for hell to freeze over just so I can see Bill Nighy NOT be totally awesome in something! ;D As for the violence, I don't find hyper-stylised stuff as difficult to stomach as the more sparse, realistic gore some films have. I have a feeling Centurion will fall into the former rather than the latter. kitty
