Aw, so sorry about your disappointment, hon...but yeah, I should think a death in the family would definitely preclude most professional commitments that way.
Though I was LOL at your mention of Robert Carlyle, just because this past week I've been watching Cracker for the first time (yeah, that's me, about fifteen years behind everyone else) and even though I've seen him in lots of other stuph, the fact that I just saw him murder Christopher Eccleston's character made me think that the next time I see him in anything, I'm gonna be going, "Why, I oughta..." *pounds fist into palm*
Though that also reminded me that I really need to rewatch Trainspotting again sometime, cos Begbie skaired the crap outta me the first time I saw it.
Prolly don't need to watch Ravenous again, though.
