Article here, and painting referenced therein is further explicated here. (As I now try not to think about the semi-recent LJ post in which I totally slagged off Oasis, LOL...)

It's okay, I'm not that enamoured with Oasis myself...just call it a minor point of difference LOL, he probably wouldn't like The Presets (which I'm listening to again), old school music kinda guy that he is ;D LMAO! at this comment: "...my body is a temple."Well, who would I be to disagree with that statement? Having said that, it does make me feel a little guilty about my own Carlislesque eating habits... kitty

It's okay, I'm not that enamoured with Oasis myself...just call it a minor point of difference As I mentioned at LJ, I'm sure part of the argument divided purely along gender-based lines there, since Damon Albarn was after all more aesthetically appealing than Liam Gallagher, n'est-ce pas? Though that probably also connects to the old Beatles vs. Stones arguments vis à vis their dominant ethos being of a more poppish vs. rockish sensibility as well. Considering that we've been listening to ABBA, Depeche Mode, Goldfrapp and Lady GaGa of late, I think that puts us squarely in the hella-girly camp (though you get, "¿Quíen es más macho?" points for Rammstein, of course). Hey, now! On behalf of all old school music kinda guys, I resemble that remark!! (And I do like "Talk Like That" and "Yippiyo-Ay" after all, proving their muzik is by no means precluded to us Mesozoic relics, dammit.) I ROTFL'd at that as well, though it is with no small amount of consternation that I must confess that the immediate visual image there was of you and I all gussied up in priestess outfits à la 'Fires of Pompeii,' you know... Though I'd kinda hope we could work out a less intensive makeup routine, all told...and there's probably a persuasive argument to be made for what we've been doing at this forum constituting a form of worship at that particular altar already. Nonetheless, my knees are more than up to this particular challenge, and I suspect yours are as well. BTCHPLZ. You're eensy, you can get away with that particular form of oral fixation! *hurriedly stubs out clove cigarette as choking fumes of hypocrisy trigger a massive coughing fit*

since Damon Albarn was after all more aesthetically appealing than Liam Gallagher, n'est-ce pas? Hey, I had a crush on Damon A. in my teens, ya know Didn't stop me liking Oasis's music at the time...Gallagher brother hijinks aside. But I found their stuff got a little repetitive and tiresome after a while. Don't forget Metallica and Muse...they aren't exactly poppy either! I didn't mean that in a derogatory sense...just stating the obvious with regards to the musical preferences he's hinted at so far Oh, I never said it was, but my gut tells he he won't really like that kind of music. I'd dare him to prove me wrong though LMAO!! Except our 'outfits' would most likely comprise nothing but corsets accompanied by black patent leather five-inch high stillettos.... Oops, did I just say that? *smirks* Uh...YEAH Well, it'd be just like Wayne's World really.... *gets on knees and bows* "WE'RE NOT WORTHY!! WE'RE NOT WORTHY" LOL, just like said compatriot who plays Carlisle, don't you reckon? kitty

Hey, I had a crush on Damon A. in my teens, ya know Didn't stop me liking Oasis's music at the time...Gallagher brother hijinks aside. But I found their stuff got a little repetitive and tiresome after a while. I wasn't really into either band appreciably, though for the reasons cited I favoured Blur very slightly. Even though I love a lot of current stuph--a great deal of which you've kindly exposed me to lately--I also tend to stay hardcore-fangirl-for-life with the music and/or musicians that most influenced me in my youth, i.e. Los Hermanos Finn, Andy Partridge & Colin Moulding, Paul Weller, etc. Still kickin' it oldskool there, and prolly always will. *facepalm* Absolument, chèri--once again, you've got it all over me in terms of ye olde headbangin' death-metal-y goodness. (Despite doing the Rocker Grrl With Big Hair thing in the 80's, I really can't see liking Def Leppard and Van Halen as constituting any valid credentials there, though I did go through quite the little Led Zeppelin phase as well, and in terms of my own greatest gig ever witnessed, the edge still has to go to Dead Kennedys--partial points, perhaps?) So what would be yours, btw? And y'know, this conversation is by no means limited to kitty and myself after all...c'mon, other DMF2'ers, feel feel to chime in here, already! I cannot imagine where you're coming up with these visual references, hon. *runs away giggling* Pah, feeling "worthy" isn't really the problem there. It really just has more to do with persuading the object of adoration that one really DOES enjoy being on one's knees for such an extended period of time...

Still kickin' it oldskool there, and prolly always will. So do I, except my bands aren't quite old enough to be oldskool yet I wouldn't really call Muse or Metallica death metal...they ain't nearly that hardcore. But you can add Rage Against The Machine to the list of heavier stuff I likes Metallica...easily Well there goes my attempt at keeping this discussion family-friendly If I'm to proceed down this track, I'd consider it more of a problem convincing said object of affection that it is indeed possible to not NEED to come up for air for such considerable periods of time kitty

Still kickin' it oldskool there, and prolly always will. So do I, except my bands aren't quite old enough to be oldskool yet And indicative of my paleolithic tendencies in this regard, I'm once again listening to XTC tonight, and couldn't help laughing at the juxtaposition of the nautically-themed tune "All You Pretty Girls" blasting in my headphones as I was processing the just-posted Radio 4 pic in Gimp--specifically with regard to the line, "I dream about you every night when I'm fathoms asleep/And in my dreams we are rocking in a similar motion..." CHECK PLEASE! Oh yeah, once again I was making a huge generalisation because, uhm, that's what I do. I'm not entirely sure what I would classify as, "death metal," in all actuality, though Yngwie Malmsteen comes to mind (though maybe that's just because when I worked one of his gigs his Cockney manager hit on me, which was unaccountably thrilling to my then-easily-impressed teenage self seemingly stuck forever in central Cali). What other bands/musicians would you classify in that genre? I know I could just Google this, but I'm more interested in your take on it, obviously. Okay, yeah, you've definitely won this round of who has the most hard-edged taste in muzik...though by the same token, I think it's fair to say I've medaled in the Girlylympics in this category (as well as perhaps a host of others). Because, after all... Oh, is that what we were sposed to be doing here? Sorry, evidently I've misplaced that particular memo...oddest thing, that. Indeed, why not? There are certain rarified substances that would definitely cause me to eschew my usual preference for solely inhaling oxygen.

specifically with regard to the line, "I dream about you every night when I'm fathoms asleep/And in my dreams we are rocking in a similar motion..." ZOINKS! Though in a totally different musical direction, I'm now thinking of Aaliyah's "Rock The Boat" I can't really give you specific names, cos it's not my musical cup of tea, but I used to occasionally tune into a heavy-metal show on radio, and they would play much heavier stuff...like Sepultura, for instance. LOL, I thought Admins were more organised than that Well, there's the white stuff, and then there's THE white stuff I know, I'm toeing quite a fine line there, aren't I? kitty

LOL, I thought Admins were more organised than that Since when was I an admin? Not at this forum, missy. Just one of the punters, like everyone else. (Yeah, like there are loads of other peeps here with over 200 posts...) *rolls eyes at self* I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT. And I hope to gawd nobody else who reads this does either. *makes sotto voce joke to kitty about having tired of egg whites as a protein source*
