Here's a few 1983 pics from capping so far: A couple from the deleted scenes section... And some from the film... kitty

Thanks for those Kitty I must admit I gave Red Riding a miss when it was on the first time, in spite of the excellent cast and Mr Morrissey's Seventies 'tache, because it looked so relentlessly harrowing and grim. My threshold for screen violence being what it is I didn’t think I could handle that many murky hours of torture, corruption and police brutality. It had rather mixed reviews in the British press: there seemed to be a feeling that it was trying a little too hard to be Important Television and that it verged on the pretentious as a result. I might be missing out, though, and at any rate I'll probably still end up watching it eventually, if only out of fangirly dedication

Thanks for those Kitty No probs...although I'm noticing via the work computer that those post-coital scenes are pretty darkly lit Lilly has told me that she'll be onto rectifying that problem, thankfully. It's not as bad as other films I've seen recently ( Inglorious Bastards is way worse in terms of gratuitous violence), but the torture scenes are, well, as downright awful as they are in the book. I inadvertantly capped one of those scenes (or more to the point, his reactions) and kinda terrified myself when I was reviewing what I'd shot I've heard similar talk about the film too. Some folk have said the same about the books, at least in terms of writing style, so it will depend on your personal taste, I guess. I liked the books, but the films were a bit so-so in terms of depicting them If you can muster up the temerity to watch Basic Instinct 2 for all it's schlockiness, I'm sure you'll be able to grit it out watching 1983 ( 1980 and 1974 only feature him a little) kitty

Done and done--though they're still pretty dark. Is this the point at which I make the official request that in future, Mr. Morrissey might consider performing all scenes involving sex and/or nudity in brightly-lit surroundings? And I noticed at Netflix today that I can now save them to my queue, so that would imply a region 1 release is forthcoming...of course, don't even get me started on how long Blackpool has been listed with an "unknown" release date there as well.

*clappy hands* Gee, thanks for posting these, hon! I'll try to get to some of the ones you sent me--especially the darker shots in need of lightening--in the next day or two. - It still stuns me how utterly unrecognisable he is in this film. I dunno what it is about that combination of glasses and hair (having seen him in several films/shows in a variety of guises), but I have to keep blinking in disbelief whenever he appears I surmise you might agree that's a sign of a job well done, eh? Kind of like what I said about the last time I watched The Deal and how I kept forgetting it was him, that's a sign of how well Mr. Morrissey inhabits a character, and utilises the makeup & costuming--along of course with the mad acting skilz--to make you forget how it's an actor playing a role. See, I love how you be bringin' tha deep meanings 'n interpretation, while in contrast, I merely thought of my icon... ...while contemplating a new version about wanting to be reincarnated as one of Maurice Jobson's cigarettes. Once again--same planet, different worlds.

He is I think it's mainly the 'tache - his mouth is so distinctive that when it's obscured like that he looks incredibly different. What's more disturbing is my sudden realisation that in some of those last pics you posted, with those glasses and that 'tache, he looks a bit too much like one of my uncles. Now that freaks me out

See, I love how you be bringin' tha deep meanings 'n interpretation, while in contrast, I merely thought of my icon...while contemplating a new version about wanting to be reincarnated as one of Maurice Jobson's cigarettes. I thought I'd invested a fair share of superficiality into my conversations of late * at own use of phrase "Sex on legs"* Perhaps it's to do with being way-too-aware of the context around his smoking? I think it's mainly the 'tache - his mouth is so distinctive that when it's obscured like that he looks incredibly different. Maybe...although in Is Anybody There? I didn't find him quite as unrecognisable with both a shocking mullet and a mo' as I did in this film. Plus I tend to pick him out through his eyes, and they're obscured by the specs for the most part. I dunno...can't put my finger on it really I don't blame you On several occasions I've looked at the photo in the lounge of my uncles from Sicily, and find myself tilting my head thinking, "OMG, he could kinda fit right into that shot...yikes!!" BTW, with those wire-rimmed glasses and spiffy suits, I couldn't help likening him to a 70s Mafioso gangster-type either... kitty
