I've not managed to track this one down yet, but I did find one of Mr Morrissey's scenes on YouTube plus the trailer. Links best watched before reading down to any comments that may result

It's been intermittently available on VHS via Amazon, and particularly after seeing the trailer, this is my reaction at the fact that it's presently out of stock: I do encourage y'all to check it out celia's links, because particularly given one scene depicted therein, it's well worth a look or two...or uhm, more like fifteen, for some of us. ETA: Took another quick gander at my Amazon Wish List, and it looks like it's available on region 2 DVD, anyway-- voila, ici.

Ah! Thanks for the info I'm in two minds whether to splash out (though given that I even bought a copy of The Commissioner, anything is possible). I'm usually fairly immune to Mr Winstone's geezerish charms, and this strikes me as the kind of movie I'd normally cross the road to avoid: I'm not a great fan of romcoms at the best of times (except of the Thirties/Forties variety) and the British ones, with their queasy mixture of smut and glutinous sentiment, can be the worst of all (there's one smiley I never thought I'd have reason to use on here!) So, on the one hand we have all that.... and on the other we have David Morrissey in a basque and suspenders I can't deny I'm tempted

So the other evening after a long day at work I felt in the mood for something light and fluffy, so I decided to give Fanny and Elvis a go. I'd braced myself for it to be truly dreadful, but it really wasn't so bad as romcoms go, even if it seemed neither especially romantic nor especially comic (fans of the genre may disagree, of course). Mr M. very much plays second fiddle to Kerry Fox and Ray Winstone in this one, and he only has a few scenes, but hot diggetty, the ones he has are worth watching Behold the pictorial evidence (inevitable spoilers ahoy): Sadly, no amount of shouting at the screen at this point produced a close-up And now fasten your seatbelts, ladies (and gents) : As I mentioned to Lilly, having already pornified virtually every other part of Mr M's body, this sequence had me in danger of fetishising the man's armpits... I also spent more time than is probably healthy trying to work out what the dark marks around his nipples were (bruises? surprising hair configurations?) before working out that they're actually lipstick prints (his lover wears a rather alarming shade of purple). Makes you think, doesn't it *drifts off into reverie* Incidentally, I love his flushed cheeks in this sequence *fans self* At this point Mr M unfortunately disappears for the best part of forty minutes (perhaps to allow for viewer recovery following the corset scene), before making his reappearance (and how) If there is a more irresistible sight than that, I've yet to see it Ms Fox's character apparently being reduced (and understandably) to a giggling mass of goo: Adorable with a capital A. Oh, and just one more thing. Did I mention there's a fantasy sequence...? I nearly fell off my sofa laughing at that

Can I get back to you when I can say anything more than OHDEARGODINHEAVEN?! No? Jesus Christ on a cracker, but those are some awesome screencaps. I think the one with the cat actually may have a more long-standing pernicious effect on my tender psyche than actual porn would. (And yes, of course I'm already at work on a banner with that one.) Okay, it's 1:35 AM here in PST so maybe I'm just hallucinating, but kitty, are you getting the seriously mega-intense Tim Finn vibe again with those last shots? And celia...words fail, so smileys must suffice.

LOL, in seeing these caps again, I'm still more inclined to giggle mercilessly than do any kind of GUHing at this point in time, but in any case, thanks for the caps Celia! They're excellent Okay, it's 1:35 AM here in PST so maybe I'm just hallucinating, but kitty, are you getting the seriously mega-intense Tim Finn vibe again with those last shots? LOL, I didn't notice it at first as I was more distracted by the Darcy type get up but upon further consideration...yeah, you're not hallucinating. Guess I didn't see it straight away as well because I'm used to seeing current day Tim with his neater do But here's a few comparison points for neutral parties to judge: A more recent shot: And an older one: Only thing is, Tim's hair isn't quite as boofy as DM's in those scenes. God that frizzy hair looks all manner of wrong, LOL! kitty

I neglected to respond to something that celia said... I also spent more time than is probably healthy trying to work out what the dark marks around his nipples were (bruises? surprising hair configurations?) before working out that they're actually lipstick prints (his lover wears a rather alarming shade of purple). Makes you think, doesn't it *drifts off into reverie* When I read this I was immediately reminded of my previous comment about a possible job assignment as a rubber-band wrangler; hmmm, applying lipstick prints...nice work if you can get it, huh? LOL, I didn't notice it at first as I was more distracted by the Darcy type get up Oh, believe me, I was too. I just struggled mightily and womanfully and then...uhm, just let go, went with the protracted swoon, then eventually recollected some semblance of my senses and went, "Hey, he looks like Tim Finn there too!" Once again, there I go being an Auld Person who still thinks of him as someone with dark hair... As well, there's our previous discussion in the Other Boleyn Girl thread hereabouts and then needlessly further explicated farther down the page. In any case, I'm definitely more down with the Tim Finn comparison than I am with the whole Liam Neeson dealy-oh, probably because of still being slightly annoyed at the part of director's commentary on The Suicide Club (which I might have mentioned before) when she mentioned how they were specifically trying to light Mr. M. so he would look more like Mr. Neeson, and I thought, "No way! It should be the other way around, dammit!"

Fanny and Elvis is my second favourite role of Ray Winstone's (after the simply sublime 'Vincent') so i loved the film from the first time i saw it. The fact David is in it too only makes it 10 times better And even though David is in it (and looks gorgeous...especially with kitteh and in corset) the stand out scene for me remains when Dave and Kate first give in to the passion! It makes me tingle everytime when they're all shouty and hatey and then...pow!kissing
