I've been thinking ever since I saw North and South that David could have played the role when he was a few years younger! What does everyone else think? I haven't read the book yet, just some excerpts and a description of Thornton. David seems to match the physical description well, and he can to rough/tender better than most. As good as RA was, I think David could have surpassed him. *dodges rotten tomatoes from Ripley* ;D

Hehe ;D No, i agree. I find Richard Armitage and David's stye of acting very similar. They both play the uptight, Northern, man pain, great-big-softy-underneath-it-all very well. I would love to have seen David play Thornton - as one of my favourite period characters - but i was beside myself when he played Colonel Brandon - who just so happens to be my absolute favourite period character EVER! I'm a very spoilt girl in that respect - David as Brandon, Richard as Thornton and then, but of course, the lovely Toby Stephens as Rochester  |

That could have been quite interesting actually... (but then I'm not sure if my Armitage-lurve would have become quite as sparked, since JT is my favourite character of his ) This is making me want to see him and DM in something together though... I wonder what that would be like?  |
