Having found out that DM was going to be in this series, I got to reading some of the Red Riding books (1980 and 1983). They're pretty dark and grim, to say the least, and are also written in a really subjective 'stream of consciousness' kinda way, so it can be very confusing, difficult reading. I've actually found myself liking Peace's style, so am quite keen to see how his books are translated to screen. But given the content of these books, I'd assume then that the show would most certainly not be everyone's cup of tea. And definitely not anything vaguely resembling Life On Mars I remember reading somewhere online (forgot the source) that the series will get a cinematic release outside the UK later in the year, so I'm hoping it'll get a round at my local film festival. In any case, it's better than watching it on the box *thumbs up* kitty

I actually liked the second part better than the first. I think I would need to watch the first episode again. It just seemed like it was all over the place but sometimes with all that's going on in my brain I can't sit and focus on something which is probably what I needed to do lol. Can't wait for the last installment though.

Suave...LOL...I just can't help but think Flanders at the sight of that Mo' ;D As for being a tease... wasn't isn't he just! On a more literal note, Morrissey played the red herring quite convincingly, I thought. Obviously put a lot of research and work into the role and was under plenty of pressure to step up to the plate and perform, which he did. In fact, he succeeded immensely at having the bookies, media and much of the public eating from the palm of his proverbial hand. That effort alone merits four stars from me kitty

Once again, I consider my day complete if I've made you ROFLYAO at least once. And also happy to have caused said brekkie accident; given how much else has been spilled with regard to this forum's topic, it's the very least I could do. (I meant ink there, of course--get your minds out of the gutter, you naughty litole things.) Mind you, this puts a whole other spin on Colonel Brandon now, doesn't it?

Okay, it was actually an RTS Television Award, not a BAFTA. *facepalm*
Please forgive me, I am a stranger in a far-off land unversed in the subtler nuances of British celebritism. (Uhm, you're buying that excuse, right?)

What's a 70's cookie look like? Girlfren, please do not tell me that was an icon challenge...cos you know perfectly well I've got enough on my plate at the moment. Offhand, this would be my first guess as to what might comprise a 70's cookie: Hey, I'd pout if someone stole that away from me too! (Presumably the connections between the American term, "cookie" and the British phrase, "a bit o' crumpet" are self-evident here.) Okay, I realise that's technically a 60's cookie, actually, but hell, she looked great in the 70's too--and still is none too shabby today, for that matter.

Thanks for those YouTube clips Lilly...they're a nice little warm-up Hehe...my hopes re Red Riding making it to my local film festival (see previous post) actually came true ;D Now, to 1974, some brief non-spoilerific observations: - I found it a bit meh overall. It's a tad cliched and a bit on the slow side (for a film which apparently goes for 100 minutes, it does drag a bit, presumably in an attempt to convey atmosphere). - It was fun playing spot-the-Brit-actor...again - Andrew Garfield (as the main protagonist, Eddie Dunford) doesn't go too bad looks-wise *sly grins* - DM features in it for a total of about 5 minutes, and he's in the shadows most of the time, which probably says more about his character in the next two films than the few words he's spoken so far, LOL! - I'm extremely thankful I read a couple of the books prior to seeing the film, as some of the references could have easily flown over my head kitty
