Excuse me while I finish laughing uncontrollably at the fact that the term, "full-frontal" occurs herein and suddenly we've got a sharp spike in visits. But because the admins have evidently forgotten this place exists and I've seemingly become the de facto honcho at present, let me just say I think the entire idea of an over-18's section is inherently ridiculous, because although the Proboards PTB do need to cover their asses legally, it fails to take into account the intelligent, resourceful young 'uns who are more than sufficiently capable of seeking out non-age-appropriate material online; I'm lucky enough to have several DW-related buddies who are barely into double digits and all of them are able to easily circumvent parental controls on their compies, after all. This mindset also doesn't give much credit to their ability to deal with so-called "adult" material, either; while I'm insanely over-protective of my friends, I also am not going to automatically presuppose that they can't handle such things, either. I also remember very well what it was like to be that age (some might say I've retained entirely too much of that shrieking-teenage-fangirl sensibility--fair enough) and know that my most ardent interests centred on such content my parents deemed verboten. (Prompting me once again to think of that great John Waters quote about, "I thank God I was raised Catholic, so sex will always be dirty.”) *puts Ranty-McRanterson-Is-Ranty soapbox away* And thus I'm gonna go out on this rather entrancingly phallic-shaped limb and state for the record that the password for the over-18's section is, "iamanadult." Do with that what you will. |
