David got my attention when I saw him as Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility here in the United States. Must have been the hat and the white horse. Ever since I have been a massive fan.

It's sooo nice to find someone else who had that reaction too, m'dear. I never watched Sense and Sensibility when it was on PBS last year, owing to my innately snobbish reaction of, "Anyone other than Alan Rickman playing Colonel Brandon? I so don't think so!" (how wrong can one woman be, huh?) so when they repeated it earlier this month, I literally was half-asleep and going, "Hey, I know that guy...who is that guy? How do I know that guy? This isn't just because all British people look alike, right?" And just as I was drifting off into unconsciousness, I thought, "Gee, I need to look that up at IMDb in the morning, because... I think I love him!" That of course bolted me wide awake, out of bed and over to the computer, thenceforth into a continual *HEAD DESK* for the next several days. As if this particular nail hadn't already been pounded into my little coffin of denial, when I watched part 2 last week...erm, YIKES. *helpless giggling* A very effective performance, that...if not downright demoralising for some of us.

Hahaha! So glad S+S had that effect on other people too!!
I'd been a big fan of David's for some time before S+S, and was also of the "no-one except Alan Rickman" opinion. But i took it all back within about 3 minutes of watching it! *THUD*
