You're forgiven That one had completely passed me by, but Hurt + Morrissey sounds a guaranteed winning combination - and given that it's on Amazon for 22p (22p!) plus postage... *adds to basket* Thanks for the additional pics too. Reminds me that the costumes were rather fabulous in that movie, quite apart from anything else

GAH!! That movie is currently available from Netflix solely in a streaming format, which they don't currently support for PowerPC-based Macs...and of which my poor lil' iMac is one. Mind you, the only photo I've found from that movie--and well, the haircut specifically... ...led to the following reaction on my part: Though clearly it's already been established that if there's one guy whose rampant appeal can even overcome a godawful haircut, methinks it's this particular fella.

Last weekend I watched the original 2003 BBC production of The Other Boleyn Girl, which vividly reminded me of kitty's adjuration that I shouldn't read David Peace's Red Riding books before seeing the films, because of the number of times I found myself going, "But...but...that's not what it was like in the book!" Colour me ten kindsa amazed to discover that the Hollywood remake actually was overall far closer to Philippa Gregory's original novel, though I think the casting played a major role as well; while Natasha McElhone remains on my Top 10 List of Women I Wished I Looked Like But Would Probably Settle For Shagging The Hell Out Of, I thought Jodhi May was completely miscast as Anne Boleyn (though her odd resemblance to Fiona Apple supplied a humorous 'Empress Of Emo' subtext for me). Mind you, about the sole way I thought this version was superior was the fact that William Stafford was given a considerably more hefty role in the proceedings, since in the book he's really only second to the sisters and the king in terms of being a major character; Philip Glenister was also considerably closer to how I imagined Stafford when I was reading the book, whereas Eddie Redmayne had so little screen time in the remake I felt totally gypped. (Not that I could have been distracted by anyone else when watching that, of course.) Though with regard to "Uncle Howard"--transmogrified into the Duke of Norfolk in the 2008 version, but essentially it's the same character--hoohlordy, no slam on John Woodvine, but yeah, we've got a bit of a significant upgrade there, no question.. And thus after watching that, I was reminded to harness up the ol' screencap-processing horses once more...because though some may attest that it's always sunny in Philadelphia, iz always pretteh in the Land O' Norfolk.(Though my apologies for how frickin' grainy some of these came out--I'm having a helluva time trying to offset how photos look in Gimp vs. once they've been uploaded online, cos the difference is considerable.) This next reminds me of what Celia just said in the Blackpool thread about some shots absolutely not doing Mr. Morrissey any favours; IMO, I like those too, because first of all, it would be scary if he looked perfect all the time--methinks he gets frighteningly close enough to that already--and quite frankly, I find it endearing as all heck. (Someday I'd like to learn how to transfer this perspective to the multitude of unflattering photos of myself.) And of course, we have the inevitable macros that tend to follow a picspam... Though because of this recently-espied macro (not one of mine, obviously): I had to do this: And lastly...after this, it was only a matter of time 'til we got a followup.

Allow me to respond to those macros via the medium of Billy: No doubt about that Big thank yous for yet more lovely pics This is a film I've previously seen only via YouTube, but I finally succumbed and ordered the DVD - naught but a big screen can do justice to this level of pretteh. All the pics are lovely but this one especially is a beauty I also particularly love no.7 - always glad of a little hand porn Can't argue with that Some suitably goofy and unflattering caps will duly appear in the Blackpool thread

Allow me to respond to those macros via the medium of Billy You keep this up, I may have to insist that you respond to all my subsequent macros in such a delightful fashion. Well, most credit should go to kitty, cos she's the one who took the time to take and then send me all the screencaps. I just lightened and resized them. And now you know why I've been so annoyed at the release of Centurion not occurring 'til next year (gee, entitlement issues much?), and the fact that I missed Is Anybody There? when it was briefly in theatres here. (Though at least it comes out on region 1 DVD tomorrow here in the States--I'm all set to revel in the midlife-crisis mullety goodness.) LOL, that was just an observation, by no means a command! (You'll know when I make a command. Things are thrown and underlings run for cover.) Still, I look forward to whatever you post, comme toujours.

I was looking for a shot of two of the oddest costumes I've ever seen, and when I found it here, I took a gander at the other items in the gallery; being the complete Anglophilic architecture geek that I am, I was interested to see what some of the other locations were for this film. I was especially surprised to find out that the execution scene was filmed at Dover Castle--sheesh, I've spent enough time there that I really should have recognised it (though as per usual, I was of course far too distracted by a certain member of the cast to pay much attention to the locations as well).

Okay, I'm completely aghast at how terrible all my previous screencaps look, because jeez, they didn't look like that on my iMac's screen, but rather than try to redo them all, I'm just going to throw in here the last few OBG screencaps I finally got round to processing...although it looks like kitty has posted several of these already, let's just count this as making a point through repetition, k? Cos you know, there always needs to be more beauty in the world, not less. [/craven caveats] i haz teh existential despair. (Or gas. I get those two confused all the time.) Don't get me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry...oh, wait, sorry, forgot it was the other guy in this movie who got that role. I'm getting a distinct, "hand caught in cookie jar/biscuit barrel" vibe here (which puts a whole new aspect on the Utmost Cookie Deprivation photo series). As always, with your needs in mind, lucinda... Doctor Who being known as, "the Oncoming Storm" has nuthin on this Oncoming Pretteh, IMO. Damn, he looks pretty good in a dress and wig, really. I hereby humbly retract my previous statements about how the big fella just wouldn't be able to pull off drag successfully. And this last, kitty titled, "Visions of Grandeur," but as he looks mightily cheesed off about something, I have since decided that he's resenting Marc Warren for wearing The Mighty Pimp Coat of Awesomeosity in State of Play while this is the closest comparable garment he's been given to wear (and as it requires a doublet and hose, this kinda negates the cool factor).

Since this is our de facto Other Boleyn Girl thread, I thought I'd post this link here since the lonnnng list there includes this film for viewing or download, along with many others I'd like to see (but since most of them are available on DVD, I'm far more inclined to watch them that way instead). *goes back to being horrified at how most of the pics on this page look, contemplates taking old iMac out back and shooting it*
