Second that awww at pic...but is that a bowl/mushroom-cut I see? ;D Not that I should be all that surprised. After all, it was all the rage with young boys at the time... Also love the significance attributed to 'the fag' and his alleged express joy at the 'downstairs loo'...LOL. kitty

Indeed, in the early 1970's it was worldwide canon that little boys had to have either a bowl cut or be replete with frizzy-fro-ness. Their parents were fined heavily when in non-compliance with these standards. Similarly, little girls were required to resemble at least one of the sisters on The Brady Bunch, and perhaps illustrative of that was the way in which I embraced the Cindy Look, with perhaps just a skosh of Marcia thrown in... (Unfortunately pre-pubescence hit me with such horrific verisimilitude that Jan Brady looked like Miss World in comparison. Am still in the process of tracking down and burning all photographic documentation there.)

When I was little (in a way it's not really past tense as I still am little now *sighs*) I had a chin length bob with blunt fringe just above my brows (haven't got pics scanned yet, sorry). Judging by girls hairstyles I see today, I doubt much has changed really. Only difference now is that they wear skimpyish skirts, leggings and crop tops (at least in my part of the world they do ) And LOL re incriminating childhood/teen pics, I've got my fair share of those, and they will undoubtedly never see the light of day! kitty
