Better late than never... I watched the first two episodes of "Sleepyhead" (for Dave, obviously) and got so engrossed in it i went to the shop the following day and bought the book. I then read it cover to cover over 2 days (the Friday and the Saturday) so i could know how the story ended before the final part aired on the Sunday! I also read "Scaredy Cat" before the drama aired. I am now making my way through the rest of Mark Billingham's Thorne novels and have to say there isn't a bad one yet! It's also fabulous because as i'm reading i am so definitely imagining David as Thorne - and once or twice there are some really sweet/sexy moments which are great to envisage with David at their heart So yeah, just wanted to say do not give up on Thorne. I don't think the first two dramas were great compared to the books (both stories were changed CONSIDERABLY) but if they do produce more for the screen hopefully they'll be able to stick more to the original stories. "Lazy Bones" is so far my favourite (and it's the 3rd book in the series, so should be the next to filmed...) though it does include Thorne very nearly ***MAJOR SPOILER*** getting raped. Which is horrific but in a completely non-pervy way (no, really, i don't mean this to sound pervy at all) i can help thinking it might be nice to see David get to grips with such a heavy scene. I do urge everyone to read the books though - they really are wonderful

I might have to look into the books... I finished watching the rest of series 2 anyway. It wasn't too bad - I like DM the detective, haha It might be a good idea if I watch series 1 though >_>

Damnit to @!*¥$!# hell! I accidentally bought the blu-ray version! I was so excited to see the package, then I opened it and saw the blue strip up the top and my heart just dropped. Now I'll have to endure interminable Thorne-less days until I sort this out. *cries* As I can't kick myself in the head, will one of you ladies oblige?

I'm slightly surprised to know that there actually is a blu-ray version of it available Are you able to return it? (or buy a blu-ray player? I don't know how expensive they are at the moment... or which ones are multi-regional for that matter, but most of the Aussie DVD players are. JB Hi-Fi might be a good place to go for that kind of info).

Are you able to return it? (or buy a blu-ray player? I. I should be able to return it as I haven't taken the shrink wrap of the discs. Still, it's the hassle and delay and can't stand! I probably will have to buy a blu-ray player, and a multi-region DVD player. I can't play The Knock on my region 4 DVD player. My money's flowing like a river at the moment. I'm tangled up with 2 different orders for the same pricey guitar! I put in a deposit for the first one, which cost roughly $3000, then found a website where I could get it for half the price and faster so I ordered that too. Now I don't know if I can extricate myself from the first order. Which tells you that I'm terrible at waiting!

Eeeeep >_> I guess that's why shopping around is a good thing to do... Hopefully you can cancel the first order.
DVD players aren't that expensive here though, and the bulk (if not all) of them should be multi-regional anyway. I'm not sure about blu-ray players though, but the one my b/f bought a year or so ago just needs a code to be keyed in each time you play another region. The more recent ones are probably a lot less fiddly than that.
