Couldn't seem to find a thread on this project, even though it's been tossed about for a while. But now it's official, David Morrissey will be playing detective Tom Thorne in TV productions of two of Mark Billingham's best-selling books, Sleepyhead and Scaredy Cat...as well as co-producing. They'll apparently be screening in autumn this year. Here's Exhibit A and B for proof. While it might be yet another cop role, having read one of the books (Sleepyhead), it'll be an interesting one, IMO. And Karen (Natascha McElhone) off Californication is in it, so I'm happy kitty

Couldn't seem to find a thread on this project, even though it's been tossed about for a while. I know I alluded to it in another thread--who knows which one--but it was only to bitchmoanwhine about him being cast as yet another copper (because evidently I am unable to convey information without inserting my opinion into it). Thanks for starting an actual thread, hon. Or as I think of her, the second-best thing about the original BBC version of The Other Boleyn Girl (the absolute best thing? Uhm...that currently escapes my memory). *shifty eyes*

As previously noted, really not a fan of that particular face with ouchies on it, not for aesthetic reasons so much as over-empathy (yeah, this coming from the gal who used to yell when her fave hockey player got in fights, "The FACE!! DON'T HURT THE FACE!!"). Sandra Oh, who I think is pretty darned groovykeen, is in the cast of Scaredy Cat, with photo evidence here.

At least for our friends in Canada--amongst whom I know at least one DMF2'er can be counted *waves hullo to denizen of the infinitely superior country to my north*--it looks like the projected broadcast date for this is March 2011. Sheesh. Once again, one can only hope y'all enjoy the beauty of delayed gratification.

Aw, thanks so much for posting that clip, kitty; I still haven't been able to nail down any sort of US or Oz broadcast date for this project, but chances are excellent it will probably show up here on the interwebs in one form or another. A Daily Express interview and some new promotional stills have been released; I believe that lucinda may want to direct her attention and click to enlarge here specifically.

WHAT an adorable photo-does get your attention.
BTW, has anyone ever noticed David's ears? They lay back nicely and don't stick out like some with a sexy little crinckle in the middle...

LOL, I'm not really a keen noter of ears, but you have rather neat observation skills there While I'm here, just thought I'd post some linky stuff. While looking on Sky's website to figure out if it's possible to view Thorne on their player, I found out they've got an official page with a whole stack of vids and goodies. As well as this, they've also released a special free iPhone app that has extra bits and bobs on the show and books the series is based on. Hah, so now it's possible to get some DM on your phone ;D *runs off to fetch Mum's iPhone* kitty

BTW, has anyone ever noticed David's ears? They lay back nicely and don't stick out like some with a sexy little crinckle in the middle... I'm sorry, lucinda, but despite your best efforts, you are not in fact going to get me to fetishise any more of this man's body parts than I already do. Thanks for the linky goodness, kitty! I got kind of snowed under with the tremendous amount of press there's been about Thorne in the past week or so, 'til I had to remind myself that this is supposed to be a fan forum, rather than an exhaustive listing of every single dang item that shows up on the interwebs. That being said, there are some nice photos at this article and I was rather amused by the wording in this Evening Standard article--specifically, the line about Thorne being, "The product of a love affair between David Morrissey, who plays Detective Inspector Tom Thorne, Billingham...and Stephen Hopkins, the director..." My first thought was, "Ooh, and here he thought he'd put to rest all those rumours about him fancying Colin Firth..." Similar hilarity is to be found in the juxtaposition of photo and headline here, as I immediately thought, "What, does Thorne have a side line as a mohel?" More staid, but still interesting to me--and hopefully the readers of this forum--is this Telegraph article along with this piece in the Guardian that points out, "It may not be a great departure for such a talented actor..." (as earlier today celia and I were discussing how this is quite clearly yet another Masses 'n Masses O' Manpain role). Still, it's difficult not to look at the graphic accompanying the Guardian article and think, "David Tennant, Maggie Smith and David Morrissey in a Celebrity Deathmatch you have to see to believe!"

Hey, just wanted to warn you guys about clicking on the images in that "suite101" link - it brought up a heap of pop-up windows for me that I just couldn't get rid of until I logged off my computer

Ok, I'm putting "Sleepyhead" and "Scaredy Cat" on my reading list! I love it when discovering an actor leads to other discoveries! Illyria, where did you watch this series??
