Ripley, I liked Roger Moore very much as Bond too. He gets a bad rap sometimes, but I love his gentlemanly and humourous Bond. I think he's my favourite of all the Bonds that I've seen. I can't recall if I've seen Sean Connery's Bond films.. OK, so my Bond idea got shot down in flames. How about RA as Dr Who, in the tortured intense Christopher Eccleston mode? ;D Getting back to Robin Hood, RA did draw me in more towards the end of the Second Season. I still liked Jonas and Robin/Marion a lot. I'm glad that you appreciated Jonas too. What did you think of RA in Spooks Season 7? I've seen all the Spooks seasons with him, and I love Season7's Lucas the best. Plus I think he had the best (unrequited) love interest in Season 7.

RA would make a great Doctor, in my opinion. I was a great advocate for David as the Doctor but sadly it was not meant to be. I do think, however, that Doctor Who is tending down the more frivolous, anarchic, oddball route and less towards the tortured Eccleston (and indeed Tennant, in parts). Makes me a little bit sad (indeed, i have all but stopped watching the Smith series') as Eccleston is my favourite Doctor. I have to be honest Marianne and admit i have still not finished watching Spooks series 7 (let alone 8 or 9!) I got myself involved in a Misfits rewatch before series 3 started airing, and now my DVD player has died on me so i need to go buy a new TV (it's a TV/DVD combi) I will get round to watching the lovely Mr. Armitage though!

I'm not sure about RA as the Doctor actually. The benchmark has been set for me by the likes of Tom Baker and Sylvester McCoy RA could probably make a brilliant Master though, all evil and dark (and I was the one trying to "steer him away" from those sorts of roles, haha!) Besides, the new series has been bad enough with the companions throwing themselves at the Doctor - imagine what they'd be like with an RA!Doc? *shudder*

Illyria you spoilsport! ;D Ripley, you and I must be the 10% of people who prefer CE's doctor to Tennant's ;D! I thought Nine's relationship/love story with Rose was deeper and more mature as well.

Lol @ Illyria - RA as the Doctor would have all female characters throwing themselves at him surely?! ;D I agree Marianne, i really loved Nine/Rose's relationship. And i loved his relationship with her whole family - Jackie and Mickey especially, but also her Dad. It was a much better show back then (in my opinion). As for the suggestion that RA could maybe play The Master - i will hear no such thing!!! There is only one man in my life who can play The Master and i will not hear a bad word said about him. Step forward Mr. Simm

Lol @ Illyria - RA as the Doctor would have all female characters throwing themselves at him surely?! ;D LOL exactly - which is why I can't stand the thought of it! The Doctor should be more of a father figure to his companions, more of a friend and a guide. I don't like the love-story stuff, it's just annoying to me >_< (save it for the companions! Which I guess is what makes the current series slightly better in that the companions are married to each other and not pining over the Doctor like Rose did, ugh ) 7th Doctor and Ace, that's where it's at If RA could play a Doctor like that and have a companion who was cool and didn't instantly fall in love with him then maybe I could go for that. Or maybe give him a male companion - then we can avoid any lovey dovey stuff altogether Actually I guess if you gave him a companion who was more mature or even much younger (like a 15 year old or something) you could still avoid the love story as well. Damn, I'm starting to channel my b/f, LOL! I think RA could make a good Master though - like one of the Classic Who Masters, with the dark hair and cold, evil, calculating sort of nature, rather than what Simm was like - I found him too maniacal (I suppose that was down to Tennant's Doc being over the top as well though, which annoyed me as well >_< So if I had to choose a new series Doctor to "like", I guess CE would be the better one). Buuuuut anyway I want to see RA on something like Merlin or Supernatural - now that would be awesome. So much eye candy in the same place

I think alot of Merlin fans were Robin Hood fans when that aired so RA turning up in Merlin would satisfy alot of fangirl dreams, i'm sure! I've lost touch with Merlin myself - watched the first series - but would get back into it for RA! ;D

Hah ;D I love Merlin, even without RA They've had a few actors in it that have resembled him a bit though, I have to wonder what was going through the casting director's thought processes at the time

Or maybe give him a male companion - then we can avoid any lovey dovey stuff altogether You really think so? Far be it for me to corrupt your girlish innocence... ;D One of the reasons I preferred Nine/Rose's relationship was because it was more subtle. Ten/Rose were like dating teenagers. Ripley, what's your opinion of Rupert Penry-Jones as Adam Carter? I've been thinking recently that RA would have been better in the role!

LOL you're right - with the addition of characters like Captain Jack, anything's possible But that can be saved for Torchwood I actually like the idea of a little kid as a companion though because at least that way the Dr could be more of a father figure. Maybe that's just me *shrug* Although with the way the world is these days, people would probably take that the wrong way as well Just call me the cynical one! Back to RA though... He could have made an awesome Watcher in the 'Buffy-verse'... just sayin'

I may get shot down in flames here, but i tend to think every role R P-J plays is pretty much the same as the one before I mean he's a lovely guy, and quite an intense actor, but just not very...versatile.

Back to RA though... He could have made an awesome Watcher in the 'Buffy-verse'... just sayin' I like the suggestion of RA as watcher a la Wesley in Angel! I thought Alexis Denisof was very good in the role. What do think of him Ils? Can I call you that for short? ;D I've been on something of a Spooks Marathon! I've seen Series 4, and nearly all of 5 and six. Currently I'm on season 2, and Mathew McFayden reminds me what RPJ lacks- gravitas. RA has it, and RPJ may acquire it later, but he didn't have it in Spooks. That said, I quite like him overall. He give the Adam breakdown plotline a good shot. Something I noticed about Adam and Harry's relationship. With Tom and Lucas, Harry is definitely the respected superior. Adam and Harry are more like peers, and there are moments when Adam comes across as the dominant one! I've got Strike Back from the library, so I'll be getting a RA fix this weekend. ;DHave you seen this series Ripley?

Especially with the way Wesley changes over the series (both Buffy and Angel) - going from comical/foolish to dark/sharp/tough. He was one of the most interesting characters in the Buffy-verse because of his development.

I've got Strike Back from the library, so I'll be getting a RA fix this weekend. ;D Have you seen this series Ripley? I've seen about the first 20 minutes of the first episode of series 1 and i saw the first episode of series 2 (where RA's character is written out...won't say how ). I do have the entire first series recorded - they showed series 1 back-to-back the night before series 2 aired so i recorded it - but i've yet to watch it. If you come back with a glowing report though it might just persuade me

If you come back with a glowing report though it might just persuade me You need persuasion to watch your beloved RA? ? ; :oD OK, how about RA in spectacular physical shape. Half nekkid. In. Every. Episode. ;D When he took of his shirt in the first 2 episodes, I wondered if they would have him shirtless in episode 3, and they did!!! ;D There was a protracted scene of John Porter staked out shirtless and sweating in the sun. Strictly for narrative purposes ! ;D The people behind this series were definately aiming at the female demographic! Seriously though, I think this is a must for RA fans. Aside from the perve factor, you get to see him in very impressive action hero mode. If I had any reservations about RA as Bond, it was about his ability to be an action hero. He really surprised me in Strike Back. He was completely convincing as a killing machine who can snap a man's neck with with his bare hands and take out a ton of baddies without breaking a sweat. And he's equally good in quiet emotional scenes too. There are things about the script which could be better. Plus, there's a major plot point which affects John Porter and the series that should have been easily discovered earlier. See it for RA and some fine supporting performances, and for generall ass-kicking action!
