Evidently BBC America have finally gotten off their well-upholstered arses and will be showing, "The Next Doctor" here in the States on 27 June--coming perilously close to, "Christmas in July" on several levels there, huh? Given that I'm in the process of moving back home to look after my elderly parents, I definitely am now going to have to time this correctly so I'm actually there for this momentous occasion (not in the least cos I don't have cable tv at my present address). After all, Mom and Dad might as well get used to me commandeering their tv set on a semi-regular basis in order to get my incubustic needs met...

In the latest spate of good/news bad news for those of us here in the States...the good news is that there's finally a release date for 'The Next Doctor' DVD on region 1, with the bad news being that this doesn't occur until 15 September. More extensive info to be found here, and for the record, here's the DVD cover: NOICE...though all too typical of my particular type of Whogeeky blondeness, initially I thought that the balloon there was a Toclafane, making me all, "Wha...?!" (Yeah, somebody just recently rewatched the triumvirate starting with 'Utopia.' I'm sure that doesn't show at all...)

Quite by accident, I stumbled across a repeat of The Next Doctor on TV last night. I enjoyed it the first time around, at Christmas, but revisiting it post-Ripley, and having seen so much more of Mr Morrissey's work in the intervening months, I greeted his entire performance with a squee-filled, clappy-handed delight that can only be imagined

Ditto my thanks as well--I don't think I've ever seen the pensive, hair-ruffled shot before. You's a good Sheila, you is, no matter what they say about you.

From the upcoming Bonhams auction as featured at the BBC News site, this item of course caught my attention: OMGWTFBBQ?! Only £600?! Given that they state that Kylie Minogue and David Tennant's costumes are supposed to go for £2000-3000, I'm fairly affronted at this blatant under-valuing, and am quite sure it will go for quite a bit more. (And if it doesn't, it should,[/i] dammit.) Of course, given that the venerable old Beeb also managed to misspell Peter Davison's name in that article, my theory is that this figure was a misprint anyway.

Thanks for finding that, Lilly It will surprise no-one to learn that the estimate of £600 turned out to be ridiculously conservative. In the event the costume sold for £3,120. (Incidentally that's the same price that Kylie's waitress outfit fetched. I call that pretty good!)

In hearing about these auctions a few weeks ago, I was awfully disappointed to hear that the garments were apparently dry-cleaned prior to sale. I'd have thought them being worn in by said actors would add to their appeal and price kitty

Yet again, you and I are but a single brain separated by 7,000 miles or so, because it was only last week that--with regard to another auction of a different actor's costume *cough*--I commented at the relevant LiveJournal community that I'd only be interested in his undergarments...provided they were unwashed. (Hey, it could have been worse--I also could have stipulated, "And only if I get to rip them off him," though presumably that was implied.) Though to actually address this thread's topic, evidently the new Doctor Who: The Complete Specials set does in fact contain the DW Confidentials that were so woefully missing from the single-DVD release (a.k.a. "Yeah, cowboy, you can practice lassoing me any ole time"). I don't know about the commentaries re: 'The Next Doctor' yet (anyone, anyone? Bueller, Bueller?), but just from what kitty passed along about Tennant and Simm's incomparable comedic stylings on 'The End of Time' commentaries, that sucka went straight onto my Amazon Wish List.
