*waves hullo to whiterose too* Great to see that like lucinda, you are posting again--please, feel free to make this a ongoing trend! What celia is far too quiet and self-effacing to mention--though of course I have no such compunction about doing so--is that Mr. M. himself thanked her for posting this at Twitter, saying that it made him laugh so much...earning her, oh, just about a million fangirl points in the process. Well-done, my dear. Now that I actually have my very own copy of DW: The Complete Specials, however, I am sorry to report there are no commentaries whatsoever on any of the specials except 'The End of Time.' Nonetheless, I loved getting to see the complete Confidential for this episode, and especially enjoyed the historical overview on the Cybermen, because yes, I just am that much of a ginormous Whogeek. (Feel free to have a good laugh at what they originally looked like when they debuted in the First Doctor's era--unlike the Daleks, they've had a pretty substantial redesign since then--as this once more proved what I've said to Nu Hu fans about how much of the charm of the Old Hu era was its complete and utter naffness.)

Oh, glorious interwebs...how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...such as the following, which I submit to The Cartoonylicious One with regard to our previous discussion about illustrated representations: Yeah, I think I'll take that over Tuxedo Mask any day of the week.

Yeah, I think I'll take that over Tuxedo Mask any day of the week. Cheers, that's a pretty cool pic (is that from a DW comic, BTW?)! But you've caught me at a bad time...would still prefer Tuxedo Mask Or maybe this guy (guys?)? ;D But the thought of a TND comic.... *drifts into dreamy pretty cartoon-bombarded reverie* kitty

I've watched my The Next Doctor DVD twice so far. ;DDavid had some really great moments. I love his look as The Doctor . I wish there were more David scenes. The Cyberman plot didn't really interest me, and there were some puzzling bits. How did Miss Hartigan get involved with them anyway, and why did they let her live? Why use kids for labour? Wouldn't adults be the better choice? As for Tennant, I'm trying to decide if he's a good actor. He has a tendency to move his face a lot and speak with exaggerated vocal mannerisms. When he lets himself be still, he can be very subtle and compelling.

David Tennant is quite hammy and over the top, but he is Scottish, so the voice he uses as The Doctor isn't his own and i always think it sounds very forced. He's much more appealing when he uses his own West Lothian accent

To be honest, I couldn't stand DT's portrayal of the Doctor >_> It actually put me off him a little bit. I wish DM could have had the chance to play the character (and not just in this, I mean overall). I think he could have been really good.

I agree whole heartedly. For Doctor 11 (although for 10 also, before DT came along) i was backing DM or Russell Tovey (now of Being Human fame).

His still had the vocal mannerisms when he was speaking with his Scottish accent in Blackpool! I'm not trying to bash David Tennant. He perplexes me because he can be annoying and impressive in the same scene or episode. I thought did some really terrific acting when The Doctor is telling Jackson what happened to him, and when he explains that he no longer travels with Companions because in the end they break his heart. Nine was my doctor. I loved his gravitas and intensity. DM would have been great as the traumatised and guilt ridden sole survivor of the Time War.

Nine was my Doctor too. I so wish Ecclescake hadn't left after one series, he was everything that The Doc was about for me
