Ironically enough, I was reading the Echo last week to get my latest LFC updates and happened across this article on CAST as well. (Ironic, yes, but fairly apropos, all told.) Liverpool Daily Post article on forthcoming tome Playing It Real, about actors' experiences portraying real people as opposed to fictional characters. (It's probably just me, but I found Michael Sheen really creepy in that clip this time. Not sure how much it's because I saw him last as Brian Clough and liked him so much better in that role, or maybe it's just a residual thing from an item someone recently tweeted as being, "Actual sign of humanity's impending doom.") Lastly, I happened across this selection of photos and don't really have anything intelligent or insightful to comment--though as usual, that doesn't stop me--except good gosh m'golly, that's a handsome man.

Cheers for the links Lilly (It's probably just me, but I found Michael Sheen really creepy in that clip this time. Thanks for reminding me that I need to watch T he Damned United--I've been meaning to for ages! About Michael Sheen being creepy in that clip from The Deal, I was wondering if it had more to do with his character than him personally. In any case, it says a lot about how convincing Sheen is playing Blair Indeed. Can't resist posting a couple of my favourites while at it: That last one had me saying, "Well, stab me with a feather." Then: kitty

Regarding that last photo, as kitty and illyria already know--but I'll go ahead and share here because I haven't sufficiently embarrassed myself enough already--at illyria's LiveJournal I recently took part in a meme about one's 'fangirly top five' that required both an explanation and photos, and this is what I submitted for my highly predictable top spot: Along with this comment: "I thought these two pictures may sum him up the best; one minute he can look handsome to an utterly unrealistic extent, and the next unbelievably, endearingly goofy as all get-out. Guess which one of these qualities was the one that really sunk me?" (Celia had an additional excellent observation on that, but I'll wait 'til she can get back here to make the comment herself.) Getting back to the actual media coverage--though on an equally ephemeral level--there's this photo shoot which definitely looks to be the origin of the Original Cookie Deprivation shot, to judge by the following: Cos if that's the case, then Lorenzo Agius truly deserves the credit for having inspired a boatload of silly comedy macros as well as of course doing exceptionally well by his subject...not to mention having blessed us with Moar Cookie Deprivation Now In Glorious Colour!! [/b] And this is from the Aug./Sept. issue of Well Red magazine, imported by me at not-very-great expense because I had been wanting to read an issue anyway, and this gave me a great excuse to actually snag a copy. My first reaction: "Aw, c'mon, that is totally an unfair Petr Cech type of situation--he covers more ground in front of the goal than the average keeper because of his height!" My second reaction: "Uhm...don't folks usually play in goal when they're completely hopeless at every other position?"

Photos from CAST launch/fundraiser earlier this week here. As already noted to kitty, nice to see that oh-so-misbegotten 'n mishugina manscaping experiment seems to be a thing of the past...and, uhm, RAWR. Obviously.

Just thought I'd post this link to a Beeb Radio 5 interview I heard this morning. Even though DM appears here to promote Sleepyhead, he talks about other stuff alongside his bosom buddy DT, so I'm not sure where to put this puppy *gazes around all lost-like* DM is on from the 22 minute mark, and they're only on for the first hour of the show, so it's not too taxing a listen Oh, and there's bonus scruff & jacket comparative pics. Feel free to spot the difference ;D kitty

As a supplement to kitty's link to the Richard Bacon interview, here's the webcast. (I like my stories with pictures, at least when they feature characters quite this decorative.) Favourite parts of the interview were DT's uncharacteristically sombre attire (did he not dress himself that morning?), Mr. M. saying, "That's the kind of tart I am," and his expression of approval re: DT's slick finesse when discussing his future in the U.S. entertainment industry: After which kitty noted the resemblance to one of the icons by cherrygraphx I use at LiveJournal: (Yes, by hook or by crook, we are putting the Master and Jackson Lake together somehow.) In other media-related news, I tweeted this link to celia a few days ago with the observation, "THERE IS TOO DAMN MUCH AWESOME HAPPENING HERE."

Thanks for posting that, kelsey--the link doesn't work anymore but it's entirely possible the interview may turn up on YouTube or somewhere else, if it hasn't already. Here's just a quick article on the dog that Mr M and his family have adopted (I know they already had a cat, so here's hoping the transition goes smoothly for them!); as well, CAST (the Creative Arts Schools Trust) finally has an official Facebook page, and here specifically are photos from the trip Mr M took to South Lebanon in February.

Not sure if this is posted anywhere, but here's scans of an article from Red magazine March 2011 via the Brit Actors LiveJournal comm (I've posted the pic in this article in the Random Picture Thread (#68)). Aside from the usual blurby filmography bits, it's a cool read. I'd posted the scans in actual size to make reading easier, but feel free to shrink it if need be: kitty

Thanks so much for posting that, kitty; I've had Lucky Break on my Amazon wish list for ages now, since I'm really curious about what his wife has to say about her adventures as an aspiring actress--I'm assuming this book is at least semi-autobiographical, like her other works--and in particular, her insights into having a significant other whose chosen profession requires him to snog and have faux sex with other women. For any "classic" Doctor Who fans, here is the great Times article she wrote about her stint on the Colin Baker episode 'Attack of the Cybermen.' (I've since rewatched the episode and nope, I've got no idea which Cryon she was.)

Not sure if this is quite the correct thread, but here goes! www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-13699076Actor David Morrissey has gone back to school on Merseyside to give a masterclass to aspiring thespians.
Mr Morrissey, currently starring in the lead role of Macbeth at Liverpool's Everyman Theatre, visited Huyton Arts and Sports Centre for Learning.
The former Dr Who star had attended St Margaret Mary's infants, juniors and seniors in Huyton as a child.
He spent the morning talking about his career in television, film and stage and answering students' questions.
Mr Morrissey, who won critical acclaim for his portrayal of Gordon Brown in the Channel 4 drama The Deal, said: "This was a great opportunity to come and talk to students who have an interest and passion in performing arts.
"Hopefully my experiences will inspire them to continue to follow their chosen path in the performing arts."
The students had participated in a Macbeth project at the Everyman Theatre. The creative director of the Everyman, Gemma Bodinetz, gave an overview of how Macbeth is brought to life on the stage.
Following the session, the students watched the play, which also stars Julia FordLucky students! ;D
