Rather than start a new friggin' thread every time, I've decided it makes more sense to just throw 'em all in here and let God sort 'em out. This latest little nugget o' informational goodness via felix has once again brought home to me the vital lesson that I simply should never be eating when I click on these links, because one picture in particular caused me to laugh so hard that I started to choke... Nothing like a little minor brush with death-via-accidental-inhalation to enliven your afternoon, huh? And as my winsome little foodie-fwend will no doubt enquire, it was a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie, for the record...the kind I've implored my dad to stop buying, because if they're in the house, I'm gonna eat them, and no doubt I will weigh three hundred pounds in six months as a result. (Self-control? Sorry, unfamiliar with this concept...)

Particularly since I'm in recovery, it's probably not surprising that I'm rather impressed with the choice of charity here.

… one picture in particular caused me to laugh so hard that I started to choke...’ I cannot tell you how much I love that picture – once more Mr Morrissey’s willingness to embrace utter goofiness is irresistible. As an aside, as someone who can barely go up a ladder without getting vertigo I tip my hat to Mr Hill for abseiling down that lighthouse – just seeing him hanging off the top of it in that first pic made my legs go to jelly (and not in a good way). He he! Well, if he’s going to take McDonalds’ shilling he has to expect a little light joshing of that sort. Thinking of voiceovers, on Saturday night I happened to catch Mr Morrissey voicing a documentary on Fleetwood Mac which of course I ended up sticking with to the end. Worth a watch (and a listen), especially if, like me, you know nothing whatever about the band. I think that’s what comes of growing up precisely at the moment when they were at their least fashionable.

You know, I couldn't really tell from the article if both of them did that or not. In any case, I'm compelled to note that I never had vertigo until I bungee-jumped off a bridge; since then I've had a healthy-respect-bordering-on-avoidance of all heights. Dawn Collinson is the rare journo who gets my vote of absolute approval there. Again, I'd love to know exactly what prompted him to take that gig, but hey, it's his credibility--he can dispense with it as he sees fit. Yeah, the only association I really have with their music is how popular Rumours was when I was a little kid, and the fact that our math teacher played Tusk during finals one year (evidently we were being punished for crimes we had yet to commit), though of course I loved the reference to that album in the Mighty Boosh episode, "Party"...but then again, at this point I will laugh hysterically at anything Tony Harrison says, so I've really no business making any allegations about credibility whatsoever. *rolls eyes at self*

Particularly since I'm in recovery, it's probably not surprising that I'm rather impressed with the choice of charity here. Yes, a very worthy cause. Mr M. seems to give quite a bit of his time to charity projects - and respect to him for that. Of course - when Saboo and Tony Harrison are DJ-ing ;D I'd forgotten about that. I seem to remember there's also a reference to Fleetwood Mac in an ep. in series 1 - Jungle, I think - in an exchange between Naboo and Dixon Bainbridge, but I can't quite recall the context. I'll have to look it up....

I seem to remember there's also a reference to Fleetwood Mac in an ep. in series 1 - Jungle, I think - in an exchange between Naboo and Dixon Bainbridge, but I can't quite recall the context. I'll have to look it up.... What's fairly terrifying is that I immediately went, "Ooh, I think that's in Tundra, actually..." (Considering that I'd never even heard of the show four months ago...eeks!) One short trip to IMDb later, this was confirmed. Bainbridge: Naboo, are you in some shamanistic trance? Naboo: No, I’m listening to Fleetwood Mac. (Once again, it's Michael Fielding's delivery that really sells it for me.) And since it would belong in this thread anyway--the wonder and the glory that is felix has struck again, yielding possibly my favourite radio interview I've heard with Mr. Morrissey thus far.Too sleepy to post more nao, but explanatory links to be supplied anon.

Too sleepy to post more nao, but explanatory links to be supplied anon. Anon be here. For anyone not familiar with all of Mr. Morrissey's listed choices--cos gawd knows I needed clarification on a couple of 'em--the previously-promised explanatory links. Info on Kes at IMDb and Wikipedia (which is one of those films I've always heard I should see, but I have significant difficulty watching anything in which harm comes to an animal...though I'm really not keen on seeing bad things happening to people, either. Definitely not a big slasher flick fan...yeah, I know, I'm a total wuss). Photo of young Master Morrissey and his grandfather here.I'm not listing any links about Great Expectations cos I assume y'all have heard of these wondrous places known as, "libraries," yes? 1. The Real Thing: You To Me Are Everything. (Major grateful kudos to Celia for stepping up when my audial dyslexia rendered me unable to look that up correctly.) 2. Echo and the Bunnymen: The Killing Moon. (In a still-being-written upcoming post about Paul Weller, I will explain why I sporfle every time Mr. Morrissey mentions Ian McCullough.) 3. Kate Bush: The Man With the Child In His Eyes. I srsly can't believe they didn't have the original video on YouTube (except for a horrific karaoke version), but there's the clip of lovely Kate from her '79 Christmas special, in all her Lindsay-Kemp-infused prog-rock glory. (Mind you, I went a bit at Mr. M stating he had been in love with her, only because when I still had dark hair, Kate Bush was the #1 person I got constantly compared to [#2 being Gloria Estefan--now you know why I got a nose job]; this led in turn to a mournful momentary sensation of, "Damn, I might've had a shot there...)" 4. Slade: Everyday, which as I already noted at Twitter just may be my new favourite song. 5. The La's: There She Goes. Since they edited out the songs I don't know if they played the original '88 version or the one I know better from '91 so there ya go, links for both. Cos one of my favourite songs from when I was going to school in Wales certainly deserves more than one listen. While I'll refrain from comment on most of the interview itself--cos y'all should srsly take a listen--I will admit that last little quip Mr. Morrissey made about his forthcoming sex change operation made me think, "Ya know, the next time I get annoyed with a guy and think, 'Oh, shut up you big girl,' I'm now going to have a very specific image in my head..."

Yeah, what really impresses me about that--much like many of the causes that Stephen Fry espouses at Twitter--is the fact that it's someone using his fame to promote good in the world. There can never be enough of that. (Especially since this is also a world in which disruptive behaviour during theatre performances is considered no big deal, and folks try to leverage a charitable donation into an autograph... grrrrr.)

This week's Radio Times asks various actors, writers and critics to choose their favourite thrillers: Reading this reminded me that The Conversation has been on my to-see list for about ten years (it has now been bumped up the queue ); I'm totally with Mr M. on his other choices though: they're both extraordinary films but M in particular is one that, once you've seen it, never leaves you. On a personal note, if the choice were mine I'd also want to throw in The Third Man (wonderful movie) and another Carol Reed film, Odd Man Out, in which James Mason gives an unforgettably haunting performance as a wounded gunman on the run.

Jeezy creezy, I've never seen any of those movies. I am made of naught but filmic fail, but will solemnly promise to rectify this in due course, cos I think even our tiny local library here in the sticks may have some of 'em. (I can add them to my Netflix queue but I've already got something like 300 titles on there already...hmmm, sounds like it might be time to go cull the herd a bit.) So how would you answer that question, btw? I don't tend to watch thrillers--my fave movies tend to be musicals, comedies, or pretentious art house films--so I'm coming from a position of complete ignorance here. (Rather familiar sensation, that.) My congratulations on having located yet another, "I Am Now in Sustained, Protracted Grief Over the Cookie That Once Was But Shall Never Be Mine Again" photo, though.

Quick Quiz radio interview--I dare y'all not to be chock fulla awww (with a few helpless giggles thrown in) at the response to the last question. And I pass this along simply because the juxtaposition prompted me to think, "Best.Issue.EVAR!"

Reading this reminded me that The Conversation has been on my to-see list for about ten years (it has now been bumped up the queue ) Oh, gawd yeah...same with me. Only problem is my to-see list never seems to stop growing M is another one I've heard good stuff about and am curious about checking out as well *mental notes: MUST. TRACK. DOWN. ASAP* Your other two suggestions I keep encountering at the library and think, "Hmmmm, they look interesting...", but fangirly stuff keeps getting in the way, dammit! I really should be more disciplined rather than tangental in that regard So how would you answer that question, btw? I know you've asked Celia that question, but by golly, I'm wanting to have a think about it myself, being rather fond of the genre. Hmmmm....shall have to get back to you. LOL, I thought we'd covered the gamut...how wrong I was Quick Quiz radio interview--I dare y'all not to be chock fulla awww (with a few helpless giggles thrown in) at the response to the last question. Thanks for that link. LMHO, that's soooooo sweet! But he clearly needs to travel more--bike riding across the countryside is a cool thing to do IMO...at least here it is ;D kitty
